Freshman Success Coach
Nishi Shah is a Freshman Success Coach with the Network for College Success. Prior to this role, Nishi taught high school science in Chicago Public Schools for twelve years. During that time, she served as a freshman teacher lead, teacher collaborative team lead, as well as an instructional leadership team member. She was able to provide organizational leadership and support to all teachers working with freshmen to ensure student achievement goals were met. Nishi also led the transformation of the curriculum at her previous school by promoting the WestEd Reading Apprenticeship Framework, implementing inquiry-based learning, and working with students to develop collaboration skills. She believes students’ social, emotional, and academic needs should be at the center of creating an equitable school.
Nishi received her Bachelor of Science degree from DePaul University in Secondary Science Education. She also holds a Masters of Education in Instructional Leadership from University of Illinois at Chicago and a Type 75 Administration and Supervision Endorsement from National Louis University.
