Stand for Children

Mission

To ensure all students receive a high quality, relevant education, especially those whose boundless potential is overlooked and under-tapped because of their skin color, zip code, first language, or disability.

History

Stand for Children is an American education advocacy group that was established in 1996, stemming from a Children's Defense Fund rally. This nonprofit organization is deeply committed to advocating for equity in public education. Over the years, the organization has transitioned its focus from addressing children's issues to enhancing public education funding and from there, to improving the overall public education system. Stand for Children encompasses both a 501(c)(4) advocacy organization known as Stand for Children and a 501(c)(3) training organization called Stand for Children Leadership Center.
