Adelric (Del) McCain believes that adults in schools are responsible for providing the conditions and educational experiences necessary for young people to develop a strong sense of self-identity and self- worth. He seeks to partner with imperative driven leaders, working to create educational communities where young people can curiously explore the world, ask questions of the universe, make independent decisions, and achieve their fullest potential honoring their own identity.
Currently, McCain is the Senior Director Programs with the UChicago Network for College Success (NCS). He leads a phenomenal team that provides coaching support within Chicago and across the country, as well as facilitates professional development and trainings around instruction, team development, and equity. Prior to working at NCS, McCain worked for 12 years as a public high school teacher-leader in Boston and Chicago. In Chicago, he taught humanities, history, and English to students in both the south and west side communities.
McCain graduated from Morehouse College earning a Bachelor’s of Art Degree in U.S. History and Sociology, and a Master of Arts in Teaching, History, from Tufts University, School of Education. He also holds several certifications including National Board Teacher Certification in Social Science/History.
McCain’s hobbies are golf and books, his passions are cooking and hip-hop, his loves are Danielle and “Baby-Gurl.”
