Each month, we’ll highlight a member of our team by “passing the mic” to hear directly from them about their work and purpose.This month, we are highlighting one of our Data Strategists, Juan Bautista.
What do you do at the Network for College Success?
As a Data Strategist, I work with our Partner School Network by helping to plan and facilitate convenings, and providing data support through coaching and dashboards. I also assist our administrative team with socializing our own data and ensuring my team has the right structures in place to store, process, and analyze data effectively.
How do you help high school teams build on the work they’re doing and make improvements?
My main focus is helping teams have effective data-driven conversations that result in positive outcomes for their students. I achieve this through coaching, facilitating convening spaces, and providing school teams with dashboards, which make these conversations easier.
What about the culture of NCS empowers you to show up the way you do?
NCS has a culture of growth and support, which continues to amaze me. Being surrounded by so many smart and talented people who are eager to share their knowledge is incredibly empowering.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Knowing that my work has the potential to positively impact thousands of students across Chicago is incredibly rewarding. As a Chicago Public School alum, I'm passionate about giving back to the community that helped me get to where I am today.
Can you share a memorable moment or achievement during your time with NCS?
I remember the first time I attended the National Freshman Success Institute (NFSI). Participants were split into various breakout rooms, one of which was for data leads. Being in a room with so many other people who loved data as much as I do was so fun and refreshing.
Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies or interests that you enjoy pursuing?
I’m a foodie at heart and love board games! If I’m not at work, you can usually find me grabbing a bite somewhere with my partner or hosting a board game night with friends.
